Word Processing

Fifth grade students are using MS Office - Word to learn and improve their word processing skills to produce reports. Visit the web site below when you have free time to review or learn more about word processing.
  • Word Processing Project 1: Type a paragraph about each of the four California regions where inhabited by American Indians. Each paragraph should have a title featuring the region's name.  Double space after each region as you will be cutting the information you typed out to add to a booklet.

Ms Sterling's Word Pad Here you will learn how to use a word processor to create documents for school or other projects. You’ll learn to format fonts, add images and some really cool effects. What’s great is that you don’t have to have a fancy computer program to do this - use Word Pad on a PC or Google Docs free on the internet.

Why Can't I Cut and Paste To Do My Report?

Picture
Because.... it is stealing another person's writing or ideas.  Click here to visit the KidsHealth web site and read/listen to the explanation on plagiarism.

But... I am just learning and how am I suppose to write a report if I don't know the information yet?  Study, read, research and then write your report.  But... give credit to those resources (people, books, articles) where you learned the information.  How do I do that?  Here are two ways to help you tell your teachers where you got the information.  Can teachers really tell I copy and pasted?  You bet they can!!! There are even web site dedicated to helping them.
